The Department of Mathematics at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) was established in June of 2015. After three years of rapid growth, currently in the department there are 21 research-teaching faculty members including 5 chair professors, 4 full professors, 5 associate professors, 9 tenure-track assistant professors and 1 visiting assistant professor. There are also 11 teaching faculty members. Almost all faculty members have had multiple years of teaching and research experience in top universities outside of China.
The department offers undergraduate degrees in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Statistics and Financial Mathematics. It also has joint graduate programs with Harbin Institute of Technology and a number of well-known oversea/non-mainland universities; In January 2018, the Academic degree office of the state council has been approved our department the first-level master and doctor disciplines of mathematics, which we will recruit our own masters and doctors in September 2019.
Research interests of our faculty members cover a broad array of areas including Mathematics (dynamical systems, algebra and combinatorics, algebraic number theory, PDEs, mathematical physics and differential geometry), Computational and Applied Mathematics, Probability, and Financial Mathematics.
Our department is young and vibrant. It is expected to grow rapidly over the coming years. We are actively recruiting new faculty members, postdocs, visitors and graduate students in all areas of mathematics. The newly established Department of Statistics and Data Science at Southern University of Science and Technology (www.sustech.edu.cn) invites applications and nominations for all ranks of tenured and tenure-track positions (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Full Professor and Chair Professor) in all areas of statistics and data science, with a start date of August 2019 or after. Candidates should have demonstrated excellence in research and a strong commitment to teaching. A doctoral degree is required at the time of appointment. Candidates for senior positions must have an established strong record of research and leadership in their research areas.
